The Spanish Invasion of Mexico and Columbian Exchange
The Spanish Invasion of Mexico began right after Columbus makes contact and discovers the New World for Europe in 1492. After 30 years of Columbus the Spanish wants to take over the Aztec empire that is rich with gold. Then a man named Cortes takes an expedition he takes 500 men including 16 horses and 4 cannons. The Native Americans population had hundreds of thousands of soldiers. The Spanish knew that they were out numbered they used their advantages like armor, stabbing swords, some gun cannons, horses, and also diseases to win. After the Spanish defeat the Aztecs they become one of the most powerful countries in the world and then other countries will become jealous of Spain's wealth and will want their own colonies. The Columbian Exchange will start during this time. The other countries will jealous and try to compete.
Jamestown and Plymouth
England's colonies will fail and hardly survive, but 87 years later (1607) Jamestown Virginia will be started. The people that go for gold do not find no gold. Then a man named John Smith forces everyone to work and builds relations with Native American. In 1619 two important things happen which are the first African people are brought to Jamestown because of labor shortage and the second thing is the first representative government meets. Plymouth then is started in 1620 in England it as protestant, but not enough for pilgrims. What they wanted was to dress differently, live strict lives, and make a new church.
